My bug (#294729) was duped to this one. It sounds like the same issue, however the following details probably having nothing to do with it:
1) Issue is not related to ssh (was using telnet and X doesn't really care unless you are tunnelling). 2) Issue does not appear to be related to a specific xorg-server, as I am using nvidia-glx.
