Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi

Okay, first of all I'm not sure if "ACPI" is the right package for this
problem but whatever.

Ubuntu 8.10 has been working great for me, really fast, nice, works with
my devices. However, I have a serious problem. I can't suspend/sleep the
computer (S3 power mode). When I suspend the computer it goes to sleep
(completely off with fans off) then it will immediately turn back on. I
have the latest kernal or whatever (unless there is a beta) and I have
been searching for a solution to this issue all over Google and
launchpad. I never had suspend/sleep problems in 8.04 but ever since I
downloaded a copy of Ubuntu 8.10 I've noticed that 8.10 doesn't suspend
correctly.

Can somebody please shed some light on this? I will be happy to post
logs, files, test new kernals whatever but please help me. I can't use
Ubuntu at this point. I'm using Vista at this moment because I have to
be able to resume my computer quickly I don't have time to boot the
entire computer. I need it right there, ready to go (and Vista does just
that in suspend mode).

Thanks guys!
-Mike
