I can't add anything more I'm afraid. The screenshot reflected what happened at the time. I now have all my network pcs running released Intrepid and using the HP network printer without any problems. Maybe just an alpha release thing? I can't recall ever seeing a 'firewall' in Ubuntu and I have not made any changes to my network router. Very pleased with Intrepid speed by the way. It has made some old boxes look positively sprightly!
