Public bug reported:

Nethack segfaults on small terminals. On an MSI Wind with large
fonts, a konsole terminal is roughly 19 lines by 90 columns large.
With such a terminal, Nethack segfaults just after selecting the role.
Nethack runs properly is the fonts are smaller which results in a
larger terminal.

How to reproduce
----------------
1) open a 19x90 terminal emulator
2) type nethack
3) type 'n' (Shall I pick a character's race, role, gender and
alignment for you?)
4) type 'w' (Pick a role for your character)

Expected behaviour
------------------
Nethack should to sanity checks at startup and refuse to start with a
meaningful message if the terminal is too small.
