I'm having the same issue - fresh install of 8.10 on a Lenovo X61s. The system will randomly freeze anywhere from 5 minutes to as long as 7 hours.
I've disabled Visual Effects, rebooted, with no change in behavior. I've uninstalled compiz and compiz-core, rebooted, with no change in behavior. There's nothing in the logs that I can identify as related. Can anyone suggest anything I can do to help diagnose this issue? It's critical for me. Thanks! -- (COMPIZ ???)
