I helped Joerlend with this bug over at #xubuntu. I can help with any addition questions related to solving the issue from the configuration side. I am wondering if the new fdi architecture can be extended to create policy files for video, monitor, and other xserver devices. This would be interesting since it would allow a single policy to patch older hardware detection issues while developers resolve the underlying root cause.
