I found out an semantically easy way to get it work:

first:
 >sudo apt-get install module-assistant
and
 >sudo m-a prepare

then download the current ubuntu package
and install it
 >sudo dpgk --install openafs-client_1.4.7.dfsg1-6_i386.deb
