thats strange. i took a screenshot when running from the live cd (of ubuntu 8.10). it took a screenshot, and it dod not have the ".png" at the end.
to replicate: 1. open up something 2. press "alt"+"print screen" to take a screenshot of the current window 3. the Name box will be empty. enter a name (such as "test") 4. click "save" and it does not add the ".png" ... thats weird, i just tried it again, and it turns out that sometimes, it does automatically fill out the name for you. a few seconds ago, when i tried it, the Name box was empty by default. also, something weird happens if you try to save the screenshot without entering a name. try it.
