Try downloading the previous backports module:

http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l
/linux-backports-modules-2.6.27/linux-backports-
modules-2.6.27-7-generic_2.6.27-7.4_i386.deb

Install it using Gdebi (ie. double-clicking on it or opening it directly
from Firefox). Then go to System > Administration > Synaptic Package
Manager, locate linux-backports-modules in the package list, select it,
and click Packages > Lock Version. Then restart and your wireless card
should be OK for the time being, until this bug is fixed.
