I like to provide a backtrace, but a) the suggested method in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingXorg is outdated, since there is now xorg.conf in the new Kubuntu. So how can I do it? b) gdb itself crashes after start leaving the whole system unresponsive.
