Many thanks to Zenit. Same problem as you : on the same CDRW no problem to burn and to install Ubuntu 8.04 but "... Error on device sr0 ..." with ubuntu 8.10 iso (i386 or AMD64). So I tried to burn ubuntu 8.10 iso on this same CDRW with the wodim -dao option and .... it works. -> no more error when installing.
