Same behavior on my Laptop (ACER 1705 modified with DLINK wlan card using acx111).
The liveCD is not usable at all because of this bug. This is not a correct behavior as it may turn down new users from using ubuntu if the live CD crashes right away. Using the default driver always result in a total freeze of the system. Sometimes after 30sec, often immediately.
