I confirm that I get the same behavior on my Eee B202 with Sony SDM- HS75P using DVI connection.
Switching to vesa driver fixes the issue. The custom kernels at http://array.org/ubuntu did not help (though it doesn't appear that these kernels are compatible with the B202).
