Public security bug reported:

sometime in the last week or so "sudo -s" (while logged in to my normal,
non-root account) started failing like this:

14:44:41 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ sudo -s
[sudo] password for erich:
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Segmentation fault
14:44:45 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$

14:41:31 [EMAIL PROTECTED] etc]# file ~erich/core
/home/erich/core: ELF 32-bit LSB core file Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV),
SVR4-style, from 'mail -s Panic or segfault in Samba root'

** Affects: sudo (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

** Visibility changed to: Public

sudo -s segfaults; core file bafflingly mentions "mail" and "Samba"
