Hello Again!! I had a mistake in my last post, I verified it and it works now.
When type in the adress bar: About:config And search for USERAGENT appears: general.useragent.vendor predetermined Chain Ubuntu Should read: general.useragent.vendor predetermined Chain Firefox and to save you close the tab then in file you select QUIT This way the change is saved in Firefox 3.0.3 And works well under Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 To verify that the change worked I rebooted the computer several times and no problem what so ever, hopefully it will work for anyone with this little problem. The oly thing I have not figured out is how to make updates in preferences active again. In any case thank you for your time!!
