If you have ATI card and are using the proprietary fglrx driver, then you should do a full upgrade, because the fglrx from hardy's repository isn't compatible with the new kernel.
On my side, it took about 1 hour to do a full upgrade. If you don't have a very specific configuration, it would also be good to make a fresh install. And what about the ACPI support? I really have no idea.
