I had no issues with sound on my "ibm t43" laptop in my prev ubuntu installation. 8.05? not sure exact name, it was LTR version. Heroin I think. after upgading to 8.10 intrepid have no sound any more. I followed some recommendation to recompile ALSA sources. the process was getting stuck with C++ syntax error.
