Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: at-spi

After installing clean Intrepid Ibex on Thinkpad T60 and playing around,
I started to lose keyboard input from around half the keys - affecting
both laptop keyboard and a USB keyboard. Alt-tabbing between windows
usually brought it back. but it would die again later (usually on
opening a new email compose window).

At the same time I started to get errors from Eclipse when certain
dialogues (Open Type, Open Resource) would cause an error. Sometimes
Eclipse even crashed with a SEGV in the JVM.

The crashes pointed me to the problem, as they were always in routines
that were part of at-spi libraries. I had Assistive Technologies turned
on (not deliberately, must have done it accidentally while playing
around). When turned off normality returned.

So Assistive Technologies is interfering with keyboard input and display output
in a broken way.
