Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-177

Hi

Running Kubuntu 8.10, up to date packages.. when shutting down the system the
blue progress bar appears, stops for a while at about 90% shutdown. The screen
then goes dark and very slowly vertical lines appear from the top right moving
to the left.
The lines eventually build to flat white colour. I think this is an Nvidia
driver issue based on my googling.

Quite pretty, but the notebook not longer shuts down and I have to hard
kill with the power switch (or at the moment always use standby). I'm
also unsure about what damage this may be causing to the screen. This
didn't happen with Hardy.

I'll try to grab a handheld video and some logs of the shutdown and
attach to this bug.

System:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz
Dell XPS M1330
NVIDIA Geforce 8400M GS
Nvidia 177 binary driver (via ubuntu repos)

** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-177 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
