I am grateful for what you, Alex, and others are doing, but I think these efforts are nibbling at the edges of a larger problem. That problem is stated well in your question. I would also ask, looking at what is in Debian Unstable and Debian Experimental, I see that network-manager-pptp 0.7.0 (not to be confused with network-manager 0.7.0 and network- manager-gnome 0.7.0) is not in Debian Unstable nor Debian Experimental; the version in those two distros is 0.6.5 or 0.6.6. I cannot even find where network-manager-pptp 0.7.0 came from.
