Hi Tom, There isn't really an upstream for this package - it's maintained entirely by Ubuntu (and Debian). If you can get a working patch, then you just need one of the Ubuntu engineers to incorporate it for you. I'd be happy to do this when you're ready with a patch - just ping me on IRC.
