I'm having a very similar issue. My consoles are blank. I am using an Intel Corporation 82G35 Express Integrated Graphics Controller. Read about a similar issue last year: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13196.
The v86d solution did not work.
