I've updated ~ 50 packages (nothing related to transmission, but kernel 2.6.27-10) and I can't reproduce the bug now :( Before update it occurred every time unconditionally when I switched to minimal mode.
When I was trying to find something suspicious via strace output, I saw only error like read(3, 0x989dbd4, 4096) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) (I frequently see this error when "stracing" other applications, so probably it's not related to the issue) btw, when the bug occurred text "3 of 27 Torrents" in status bar was truncated to something like "3 of 27 Torre".
