Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libxine-main1

There is no way to make libxine use artsd for its output on dapper. It worked
fine in breezy.
This affects many KDE multimedia apps. Kaffeine e.g. is practically unusable
without this, as the mplayer-output module is not really ready for daily use.
Also, newer versions of amaroK (kubuntu.org/packages) lack an artsd-output
plugin and rely on libxine for this.

Would it be possible to include artsd output in future version of
libxine again?

The changelog says
> xine-lib (1.1.1+ubuntu2-7) dapper; urgency=low
> * Stop shipping the arts plugin as it useless
> according to upstream and tends to break things.

This is definitely untrue, at least the "useless" part as I explained
above.
