There is absolutely no reason that Ubuntu write on the NTFS partition, so some 
questions :
- Are you using NTFS with Windows ?
- Are you using a write enabled driver for the NTFS (standard one doesn't) like 
ntfs3g or captiventfs ?

Otherwise It can be a partitionning problem or a bug in the NTFS kernel
module itself (which would seem strange because it doesn't write
anything on the NTFS partitions).
