Public bug reported:

On trying to use the scanner Canon MP610 on a fresh Ubuntu 8.10 installation,
xsane scans but after it finished i get an error message
"Fehler beim Lesen: Fehler während I/O" (means: Error on reading: Error while
I/O)
This is also what scanimage outputs.

sane-backends CVS nightly snapshot from 08-12-02 was also tested with the same
result.
The proprietary scanner driver directly from canon also does not work.
I also tried to use different USB ports without success.

If any additional information is needed, please inform me.
