Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nagios2
I can't tell if it's a new bug. I have spent a lot of time going through the various bugs. I upgraded to 8.04, used synaptic to install nagios. It failed to configure and start. Once I started to investigate I found a "working" Nagios 1.4 (my apache server could display the page). I tried to uninstall nagios and had to do all sorts of things listed in the various bugs as well as manually remove some directories. After an apt-get purge (after touching( per several recomendations in the bug reports) the apache2 nagios.conf which was deleted) I reinstalled using apt-get. The system generated a report and suggested I send it in which is what I am doing in the hopes it may be helpful. Use the information if it's helpful.
