Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image

nsupdate fails with TSIG error claiming BADKEY over a PPP connection
using a Sierra Wireless Compass 597 USB EVDO modem from Sprint. This
modem uses the sierra.ko module instead of the more generic usbserial.ko
module for some other similar devices, such as the USB720 modem from
Verizon, over which nsupdate works properly. So the problem is either
with the kernel module somehow not handling the nsupdate TSIG packets
properly or with Sprint themselves. I have no problems with any of the
other networking functions I've tested over Sprint, including http,
https, and ssh (inbound and outbound). The only thing that has failed
is the TSIG transaction during nsupdate, where it complains about a bad
key. That same key pair works across Verizon as well as through eth0
when hardwired to a LAN. Therefore, I don't believe the problem is
related to the IP stack or nsupdate themselves.
