Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.27-9-generic
PROBLEM: System freezes randomly, caps lock flashes. Power cycle required. NO errors or warnings are given in /var/log/messages or kern.log or syslog - nothing! System: HP tx2500z tablet notebook, using Intrepid 8.10 with all packages up to date as of Dec 3 2008, and up-to-date BIOS repos enabled: intrepid/-updates/-security main restricted universe multiverse Kernel: 2.6.27-9-generic (exact same behaviour occurs with 2.6.27-7-generic) Suspected problem package: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.27-9-generic version 2.6.27-9.13 After extensive testing, this problem has ** only been seen to occur when wireless switch is enabled **. For this reason, the proprietary broadcom driver (wl) is suspected to be causing the freeze problem. In other respects, the driver works flawlessly. I believe that it also only happens when signal strength is low (< 40%) but I cannot be certain. ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: linux-2.6.27 -- System freezes (caps lock flashes), broadcom suspected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/304926 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
