Tried the LiveCD and . . . nothing. But I did see that the mouse is being powered - tracker LED pulses briefly on startup. USB mouse & any other USB device simply invisible to the OS, though. Does this indicate that the ports are cooked? Or could it still be an Ubuntu issue? I am getting to the point of wanting to burn all my personal stuff to DVD and reinstall the machine completely. But if it no longer sees USB even from a Live disc, will this make any difference? dmesg to follow (have to burn to CD-RW!!
