Someone sent me an e-mail explaining that maybe the problem can be related to iommu and a failure in the dma_alloc_coherent() call, and told me to include "iommu=force" in the kernel's boot parameters. It didn't work with my computer, but nevertheless it may work on your specific setup, so please try and report here. At least this can bring some light to Ubuntu developers.
