What Sam is saying about the "associated CD-ROM device" is that these Cruzer Micro USB sticks are U3, which area combination of a flash partition and a read-only "virtualized CD-ROM partition". In Windows plugging this device in will show a CD as well as a writable USB drive, whereas in linux, only the USB drive shows up. More information on this can be found here:
