There were a few bugs the past days about missing sound. Just by chance: Can you enable sound again by setting PCM in "alsamixer -Dhw" to 100 or so? And are you sure every channel is unmuted? (MM) under a channel means that it is muted, you unmute with the key M . Also you try a "alsactl restore".
