Originally this bug report did not refer to the automatic opening of
external content, it got hijacked. So it's not a duplicate of bug 33038.

When downloading files, firefox puts them to /tmp, instead of the
Desktop. This happens for files where you choose "open" instead of "save
as".

One more reason this should be changed: privacy - any user on the system
can see what files any other user has downloaded. The content cannot be
viewed but the filename can be viewed.

It should at least be possible to configure firefox to save the files
somewhere else.

Perhaps the default could be changed to /tmp/{randomness}/filename and
the /tmp/{randomness} directory could be made unreadable to others.
