Public bug reported: Every so often, I get a kernel panic. The machine locks up solid, Caps Lock light is blinking, there's no Scroll Lock. The Alt+SysRq keys don't work, and I haven't been able to get a panic to happen while the screen is still on at the console, so I have no dumps or images of the panic to post. From /var/log/, I've gone through debug, messages, syslog, daemon.log, and kern.log after rebooting from a panic but there were no errors or warnings displayed. The most interesting thing ever was a notice that UFW was blocking incoming traffic. Next time a panic occurs, I will boot to a live CD environment and copy these logs out and attach them here if they're wanted.
This mostly happens when the network is in heavy use, but it has also happened a couple times when the machine was just sitting there idling. It has also occurred on the 2.6.27-7 kernel. I haven't been able to figure out how to reliably reproduce this. I've attached dmesg.log here. I'll attach uname-a.log, version.log, lspci-vvnn.log, and dmesg.0 (dmesg from before the kernel panic) shortly. lsb_release -rd: Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 apt-cache policy linux linux: Installed: 2.6.27.9.13 Candidate: 2.6.27.9.13 Version table: *** 2.6.27.9.13 0 500 http://gulus.usherbrooke.ca intrepid-updates/restricted Packages 500 http://gulus.usherbrooke.ca intrepid-security/restricted Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.6.27.7.11 0 500 http://gulus.usherbrooke.ca intrepid/restricted Packages Expected behaviour: No kernel panic Actual behaviour: Kernel panic ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kernel panic on HP Pavilion dv2622ca https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305898 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
