Suppose "sudo" was the problem here, then I would expect ubuntu-bug to print a readable user-friendly error message saying that "Please run this program with super user privileges." instead of an unhandled assertion with a raw stacktraced being dumped to screen.
That said, "sudo" alone is not the problem: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo ubuntu-bug -p xserver-xorg-video-intel [sudo] password for mnemo: Error: Cannot open display ":0 -" Exiting hook /usr/share/apport/package-hooks//source_xserver-xorg-video-intel.py crashed: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/apport/report.py", line 554, in add_hooks_info symb['add_info'](self) File "/usr/share/apport/package-hooks//source_xserver-xorg-video-intel.py", line 77, in add_info report['intel_reg_dumper'] = script.communicate()[0] File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/problem_report.py", line 469, in __setitem__ assert k.replace('.', '').isalnum() AssertionError -- launchpad tells me to run command that prints assert errror https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305996 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
