Sorry if people have already posted this solution... but... I have a ASUS x83vm-x1 and tried to install Kubuntu 8.10 from a live CD. Would start the install and then give [ 135.292409] SQUASHFS error: sb_bread failed reading block 0x9d7f3 [ 135.292411] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read fragment cache block [275faa28] [ 135.292413] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read page, block 275faa28, size 23a7
Thinking it was a defect CD, I ran the check disk and check memory utilities which both reported no problems. I then tried the an OFFICIAL CD UBUNTU 8.04 I recieved in the mail. It also reported the same errors. I went into BIOS and changed the IDE settings to COMPATIBILITY MODE. Viola! It worked. Hope this helps someone else out. -- SQUASHFS error while booting from live cd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/172937 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
