to wine registry did the trick." also worked for me on the Wine issue, but have also found that the nvidia -96 driver is still a problem. You may want me to open another issue, but I think it's related... that is when I re-activate the nvidia driver, I have now found it trashes the menus in openoffice. I've confirmed if I deactivate the nvidia -96 driver that the openoffice menus are fine.
