Problem fixed for me by following the recommendation by murphy.md previously in this thread (2008-11-10).
Specifically, followed these steps: 1. Right-click on the bluetooth icon in the quickstarter tray 2. Selected, "Always visible" 3. Removed my known device "HP Bluetooth PC Card Mouse" 4.
