Haha, I found this workaround independently too. Sometimes random frustrated key-commands actually work. Thanks for posting it with such good instructions, I was going to do some more testing, but now I don't have to.
I can confirm the above workaround absolutely. -- X.org will stop responding to mouse clicks on Ibex with Xinerama.
