I have got my issue solved. It had nothing to do with Firefox or Ubuntu updates or anything like that. Neither was it google search bar. It was the add-on that I had for the browser. "Show IP", was the one bugging the browser.
Strangely I have been using this add-on for some time now and it worked perfectly.
