I see this in 8.10 on an HP mini-Note 2133. The B43 driver is installed, and all is well. But then, after an hour or so, I lose the wireless connection. Even though the driver is installed, and in use, and the wireless light is blue (meaning it is on), the wireless network option is grayed out or missing altogether in the Network Manager left-click. A reboot, or even a power off may or may not fix the problem.
For example, this happened to me at my sister's. The dozens of available networks disappeared. Then today I was on the Boingo hotspot at LaGuardia Airport. The wireless died after an hour, and then refused to reappear. It was grayed out. But then it worked again in Charlotte, NC airport. I also have trouble ftping large (10MB+) files. Again, the wireless just croaks and will not come back. I have a BCM4312 chip. So what can be changing? Why doesn't a reboot fix it? -- Hardware drivers show Broadcom B43 Wireless Driver in use, but wireless doesn't show in Network Manager https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191408 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
