These symtoms seem to be more closely related to bug #275379. Bug 290197 is suspend/resume related whereas this is failing during X startup. A signal was received at this critical point and the server rolled over and died. It appears that the nvidia driver didn't start.
Please attach the /var/log/dmesg log so we can see what the kernel is loading at that time. The kernel *seems* do be doing the right thing in spite of the problems with the VT interface.
