updated to the fixed package. so far it has been working well. suspend/wake cycle (which induces kernel panic previously in high frequency) seems to work well.
upon waking, it does take a little bit (~30 sec or less) before network manager gets the wireless interface to resume connectivity, but it also seems to be an improvement (previously it could be much longer or not resume at all!) I am using BCM 4328 (and therefore only have the option of wl or ndiswrapper) here.
