The issue still remains ! This time I tried a normal restart from the User Switcher Applet.
But the system wouldn't shut down properly, the progressbar turned from left to right, more than it used to, then the console cursor blinked fast in upper right corner of the screen. I then had to hold down the Power Off Button to make a hard shutdown. I was waiting 15 min. to be shure that the RAM was completely empty. When I started again all I got was .... a black screen, and no activity on the harddrive. The only possible way, for me, was to use the install CD and choose "Start from the first Harddrive".
