Hi There's a new package in feisty universe that could be used until this issue is fixed upstream. The package is glipper and it's a clipboard manager which integrates fine in gnome: http://glipper.sourceforge.net/
Since this bug affects pretty much every app on the desktop not following gtk+ clipboard protocol I think it's a nice add on.
