Hi there, I can understand how not being able to play a DVD could be frustrating. However, due to licensing issues, Ubuntu cannot install all media codecs by default. Please read the restricted formats page on the Ubuntu community documentation page ( https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats ) or the official ubuntu documentation ( https://help.ubuntu.com/8.10/musicvideophotos/C/index.html ) for more information about this issue, and how to enable multimedia playback.
You may also want to try installing and using the gxine media player for playing DVD's. It's my understanding that it has better subtitle support. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- Can't Play legal DVD movies in Ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/302387 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
