I tried a new command in order to get the splashscreen.

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh usplash
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.27-11-generic

But this command doesn't help neither. Later I tested the OpenSuse-11.1 Gnome
Live CD. When starting the live-cd
I don't get the splash! So the Ubuntu/Kubuntu live-cd's a performing better,
because they give me the splash. I didn't
install OpenSuse because my monitor was flickering once the gnome started up.

It looks as if the bootloader has problems with a monitor with a 1280 * 1024
(5:4) 75hz resolution. I installed hwinfo.
sudo apt-get install hwinfo
sudo hwinfo --framebuffer
