I suffer this issue since months now, from ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10... I guess Ubuntu OOo's SMB extension is really messed up; I got file corruptions, random loss of data and other unpleasant behaveours that make impossible to use Ubuntu's OOo in an office environment, right now.
