With regard to #1, I am interested in the results.

However, this does look like a kernel issue. I did a little Internet
research and I couldn't find any evidence of others having this issue.
I understand that you are using the alpha of Jaunty, but I was
wondering if you had heard of anyone else having this issue.

I doubt that it's likely to be a firmware issue. I just thought that
might have a chance of making the problem go away for you. :)
